Green Day – Revolution Radio – Facebook Live Stream

On Friday the 11th of November we were live streaming a Q&A with American punk rock band Green Day to Facebook Live. Much like our previous live stream for Two Door Cinema Club, it celebrated the launch of their new album entitled Revolution Radio.

The Q&A took place at Warner Music in London and involved both the live and online audiences asking questions to the band. After a technical recce and pre-stream tunnel test, we mapped out a plan and we were ready to go…

Making use of Warner Music’s in-house production team, we took feeds from three manned camera’s (one wireless) and fed them back to one of our portable production units (PPU). This was located a distance behind the stage so required a little more extra cabling than usual! Our Vision Mixer, led by one of the in-house directors at Warner, interchanged shots from the interview giving it a broadcast quality feel. It was then handed over to our Live Stream Team to encode and point out to Facebook.

With Green Day’s massive online fan base aiding viewing figures, the stream was a massive success, with an enormous 816,000 viewers watching over Facebook Live. Engagement rates were also high, as It received over 1,700 shares with 23,000 reactions and no fewer than 5,500 comments!

Another successful live stream for Karma, and it’s safe to say if you didn’t tune in you were in the “Minority.”
