What a difference a year makes, this time last year almost to the day we were out in central London conducting what turned out to be one of our last OBs for 3 months or so. However it was a good one it was the Mercedes F1 car launch.

At the beginning of 2020 we were asked to cover the launch of the new sponsors for the 2020 Mercedes F1 car at the RAC in London, with the main sponsor being INEOS. It was an early start with the some of crew meeting at Starbucks in Kew at 5am due to a 6am access at the RAC. The event consisted of high profile interviews with Toto Wolf and Sir Jim Ratcliffe in one of the conference rooms in which various journalists could quiz the two about all things Mercedes and INEOS. After the press conference there was then a quick dash down to the atrium of the infamous building to cover discussions by the car and the changes that they have made since the previous season.

With wireless cameras and a very mobile crew we were able to capture the event seamlessly, the new sponsorship turned out to be a huge step in the relationship between Mercedes and Ineos and we were there to capture it, in less than a year later Ineos is bought into F1’s world champion team and will become one-third equal shareholders with Daimler and Toto Wolff.
